| A former Conrail C39-8 leads two former C&O SD40-2s east through Manville. The CSX units were out of place on the Lehigh Line post-Conrail split, but they made for a more interesting consist. It's hard to imagine that 18G has been a staple on the Lehigh Line for over 18 years now! Not only have the C39-8s been off the active NS roster for 10 years, but the "MANVILLE" water tower seen here is also long gone.
NS 8211 went on to work for the Pennsylvania Northeastern, but its days are now numbered. Hopefully it will be preserved. |
