This area is known as South Draw deep in Tunnel District of Rio Grande's Moffat Road. The natural horseshoe of South Draw is used by the railroad to gain elevation on the climb to the Continental Divide. A Kansas City Southern SD70ACE and a Union Pacific SD70M lead a BNSF empty oil train out of Tunnel 16 on a 10 degree curve. The cars in the background are on a steep 2% grade passing thru Tunnel 15.
