BNSF 7451 leads a fleet of westbounds off the Hi-Line onto the Funnel on a beautiful summer morning. Sandpoint is currently a major bottleneck for BNSF with the MRL junction and the single track over the bridge. The railway has made a proposal to build a second bridge over Lake Pend Oreille, adjacent to the existing 4,769 ft trestle, to help ease congestion.
