| The South Atlantic and Ohio railroad constructed tracks through the Natural Tunnel in 1893. Today this is part of the NS Appalachia District and Nature Tunnel State Park. CSXT operates trains over the NS from Big Stone Gap to Frisco near Kingsport for their trains going to and from the Clinchfield. Here we have a Resource Mine coal train bound for Terrell, NC. With dynamics going and the air set, this engineer hold back the heavy train as they roll downgrade thru the tight confines of the state park. The walk to get in and out of the shot isn't an easy go lucky walk, getting out took a good hike back up to the top. Well worth the visit to see this neat place! |
