Freeport McMoran #63 peeks around the red rock cliffs at the bottom of the 5% grade out of Clifton. This steep, winding section of track was originally a three foot gauge branchline to Shannon Smelter, later the Shannon-Arizona Railway. The curves and grade are as built but the track gauge and power are much changed from the tiny 3 foot gauge 2-8-0s that once climbed these same hills.
