Further to the picture (RP #694393) that Brian Stephenson recently posted to express his sadness after the disastrous fire that destroyed parts of the Notre-Dame de Paris, my turn to pay tribute to the damaged monument. The roof of the cathedral and the spire are now gone. A national debate is going on about how to do the repairs. A billion Euros in donations has already been gathered but much more is needed.
Here is a picture of a very special train travelling on the river Seine at the foot of the cathedral. The TGV on the barge had broken the world speed record on rails on April 3rd 2007. The event called “574.8 km/h on Seine” ("on Seine" also means "on stage") consisted in showcasing the front-end engine with one bilevel passenger car on the river right in the centre of Paris.
