Anywhere but Long Island, the sight of a switcher type locomotive leading a passenger train would be an oddity, but the LIRR bought 23 EMD MP15ACs with high speed gearing for commuter service and ran them for years. This one was outbound at Mineola, NY, with a cab car on the rear providing HEP.
