Remarks & Notes
This photo was taken at the end of a couple eras. These two cabooses bringing up the end of an eastbound SP freight entering Roseville represent a couple generations of bay window caboose design. They would be on the endangered species list within 18 months, and SP itself already was, with talks with Santa Fe about a merger that would not occur. Soon Rio Grande would buy SP, and the beginning of the "final" chapter of western railroad mergers would be underway. It would take nearly another ten years for it to culminate.

What California is known for. Fires, droughts, weed, and people waving rainbow flags. Yah. Great place alright. At least the trains are nice.
