Remarks & Notes
An old covered hopper in the BNSF yard at Frannie, Wyoming, reveals its previous owner on June 28, 2018. Built in December 1974 by North American Car, the Rio Grande logo still shows nicely through the weathered orange paint. The car was originally painted “Action orange”, but the orange accumulated years of grime and dirt, and when the original white lettering eventually wore off, the cleaner paint underneath made it look like the car had orange lettering. A cool effect that begs to be reproduced on a model freight car.
