Remarks & Notes
In October 1999, SP SD45T-2 No. 9343 leads an eastbound UP rock train off the Willcox Playa at track speed, which at the time was 65 mph. This was during UP's doubling tracking of the Sunset Route, and the train may be returning after all the ballast in these cars had been spread on the new, second main track.

The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
