MRL 259 runs long hood first with a Jimbo work train headed east at Belknap after working the west end of the Montana Rail Link during the week. MRL 259 is former BN 6324, built in November 1971, making it one of the later pre-Dash 2 units built. The caboose's heritage comes from British Columbia Hydro which MRL's parent acquired and re-named Southern Railway of BC.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service.
