Remarks & Notes
Spirit of America
One a summer night in 2016 the solo unit of CSXT 7812 pulls a 100 car empty hopper train through the stillness of Cusseta. While the outside of this unit looks like any CSX painted Dash 8, there is a bit of history beneath the blue and grey colors. This locomotive was once known as the CSXT 1992, aka the “Spirit of America”, and was used on the 1992 campaign trail for President George HW Bush’s re-election bid. It had the US Flag pained on the long hood as well as the US Presidential Seals adorned on either side of the cab windows where the numbers 7812 now reside. This uniquely painted engine stayed in that scheme until being repainted in April of 1999 into what you seen now. To see how it looked back then click here.
