Several Union Pacific GE AC4400CWs receive work outside, or await further rebuilding inside, the railroad’s locomotive shop located at South Morrill, Nebraska, on September 15, 2017. In mid-October 2018, UP announced that it will be closing the South Morrill Locomotive Facility in January 2019. About 68 employees, based on seniority, will be given the opportunity to relocate to other locations like the locomotive shops at North Platte or North Little Rock, or be furloughed. Unfortunately, this closure is most likely due to the decline in coal traffic in the Powder River Basin region.
