| Four cylinder compound 2-10-0 steamlocomotive C 5/6 # 2978 "Elephant" of SBB Historic entering Göschenen ("false entrance"). The 1620 HP freight train locomotive was built in 1917 by SLM Winterthur mainly for the Gotthard line. The # 2978 was the last delivered standard gauge steamlocomotive for the SBB, afterwards there were built electro or diesel locomotives only. This locomotive is kept in perfect condition by the crew of Dampfgruppe Zürich and is based at Brugg (AG). |
