The Michigan Army National Guard plays host to the annual Northern Strike exercises at Camp Grayling and normally sees hundreds of vehicles arriving from around the country. New rail ramps and tracks were constructed at the Grayling Army Airfield to accommodate unit military trains. In honor of the Northern Strike events and the US military, Lake State Railway, the sole railroad serving Camp Grayling directly, added slogans and logos to SD40-2 6302. The engineer side of the 6302 says "We Support Our Troops" beside the Northern Strike logo. Additionally the nose logo has an added flag background and the unit's rear has a POW banner. Seen at St. Helen, MI on August 19.
