The 1979 Pacific Railroad Society "Mountain Outin" passenger special, with Amtrak SDP40F 518 and 517, is rolling westbound through the Southern Pacific Mojave yard. Santa Fe 5702 is slowing down as it comes into the yard. I am taking this photo from the open baggage compartment door next to the vestibule. My brother James is wearing the red hat, along with our friend Steve, while our friend Jon and I were shooting photos from this location. We were surprised the conductor never told us to close the baggage doors, and we never complained about it. A great way to view freight train action over Cajon Pass and Tehachapi Pass, one of the best trips the four of us ever had.
