SEPTA AEM-7 No. 2306 leads the last evening push-pull set into the station at St. Davids, PA. Located in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, 13.7 miles from Suburban Station, the stop (and town itself) are named for the nearby historic Episcopal church. Only the platforms remain of the once very impressive station that the PRR built in 1890 seen here. Amazingly, like so many others, it was demolished, this one in 1966 and replaced with a much smaller, mundane station that same year. So mundane, I saw it and didn't realize it was a station. There has been a move to raise funding, however, to at least restore the surviving shelters to their original 19th-century condition, replacing later woodwork that utilized simple designs not matching the original colors nor specifications, as well as the return of cast-iron PRR station signage. Welcome to RP, St. Davids.
