The West Burlington Shops was the heart of the BN heavy locomotive repair and rebuild dating back to 1883. The shops were closed in 2004 by BNSF and everything moved to Galesburg and other shops. Not much goes on at "West B" anymore and the 250,000 square feet main shops sits idle. The BNSF does still own the shops.
I wanted to get this historical shops shot from the air. This was a happening place back in the days. A Fort Collins, CO, to CN Interchange at Eola, IL, empty sand train passes by the idle grounds.
