The eastbound Overland Mail stops at Montello, Nevada back in the days when the railroads had a mail contract and long mail and express trains like this were common. In addition to handling the mail and express, these trains typically made stops at most of the the little towns that the "name" trains missed. In this case I got on at Wells, Nevada and rode to Ogden. The coach on the rear was for the flagman, and another coach in the middle of the train handled the revenue passengers. I was traveling on a pass so I was able to talk my way into the rear coach for a better view from the rear platform.
