Remarks & Notes
Amtrak No. 5 heads west out of Plainview, Colorado, just after exiting Tunnel 2 on the morning of May 14, 2017. The large fill the train is crossing over Bull Gulch was totally washed out by a heavy rainstorm in September 2013 that caused a lot of destruction to this part of Colorado. The line was closed for several months while UP rebuilt this fill, along with other repairs from storm damage on the Moffat Tunnel Subdivision.

The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
