Coal loads depart the Signal Peak mine and enter the 36 mile line built into the mix of Montana prairie and badlands in 2007-08 that sees one commodity - coal, and lots of it. This privately owned "spur" moves about 8 million tons of coal a year, most of it bound for the Westshore terminal and export. This train will get back on the BNSF at Broadview, MT, interchange with the Montana Rail Link in Laurel, MT and return to BNSF trackage in Spokane, WA.
