Amtrak’s westbound Southwest Chief departs Lamy, New Mexico, on the afternoon of May 20, 1999. Apparently some power issues further east on the trip has required the assistance of a Burlington Northern EMD SD60M No. 9276. Besides the 9276, four Amtrak GE P42DCs play follow the leader “elephant-style,” with Nos. 33, 45, 5 and 8 all tagging along on the 22-car train.
