Return Of The 60I!?
Slowly easing up on an Restriction signal at south-end crew change point at Lookout (MP J-148.1 Lookout) on the starting point of the CSX Chattanooga Sub, the northbound CSX Q238-17 (Baldwin,FL-Louisville,KY) empty vehicle is at the end of it's journey on the CSX Western & Atlantic (WA), and it's has the signal to slowly proceed north on the main one track and on to the Wauhatchie Yard lead down the 0 track for a crew change. What was originally planned by Wauhatchie's Yard Master was to get the empty vehicle up to the north-end crew change point down the old main track behind the empty Stilesboro E302, but with hot CSX Q142-17 hot on the heel of Q238, the planned was change in the last minute. What's a real surprise is the lead motor CSXT 8735 an SD60I which has escape from the storage line unlike the rest of the 71 SD60I that on the roster. As of the 4th Quarter of the 2017 year a rather surprising, and confusing year for CSX, all of the 8700s series SD60s, and SD60Is were to be put into storage for a undetermined amount of time which eventually would be retire, and sold off to various of busier. Just seeing this single SD60I on the road give some what of hope that these older EMD will possibly get another chance to be put back into revenue service.....Possibly!?
