Remarks & Notes |
I took this image of this empty coal train as it rolled down the east slope of the Toano Range in eastern Nevada. It is about to cross under Interstate 80. The photo location is about 3 highway miles from the summit of Silver Zone pass and just east of the east switch of Cliffside siding on Union Pacific’s Shafter Sub. However the photo was not taken from the highway shoulder, rather from trackside below I80. This was the last of only 4 trains I saw during daylight on Silver Zone and the light was fading fast. 10,700 foot Pilot Peak is nearly completely dark. |
