In a meeting of East and West, workers at Burlington’s 23rd Street engine terminal in Denver couple up New York Central U25B 2535 and Q’s U28C 555 for the afternoon CB&Q-NYC pool train to Chicago. The Central U-boats have come in overnight. All units have been fueled and serviced, cab supplies have been renewed, and the hostler is ready to move the consist to the ready track. On August 19, 1967, this almost daily operation has brought welcome variety to the Denver scene but it will all end in a year with the NYC-Pennsylvania merger.
