Within a few months after Penn Central took over the New Haven Railroad on 1/1/69, PC moved some of the NH's dual power FL9s to the former New York Central Harlem Line, where they replaced ex-NYC Alco RS3s and electrics to eliminate the engine change at North White Plains. Late on a Sunday afternoon during that transition, a set of renumbered NH FL9s mingled with NYC RS3s at the Putnam Junction commuter engine terminal in Brewster, NY.
