Remarks & Notes
It must have really been something to pace the world's largest diesel locomotive. By this time period all the high speed 8000 series SD40-2 locomotives have been returned to their normal gearing and renumbered back to the 3000 series. The DDA40X's were all stored except for some that have been placed back into service because of a surge in traffic. The glory days of super fast freights was over at this time. Never the less, these were and still are very impressive machines.

Pace and pan shots of trains from on the ground or in the air. If you're not in the locomotive cab or on-board the train, it's the next best thing to being there.
