Remarks & Notes
In the 1940's, Rio Grande Southern often leased some of the D&RGW's older locomotives including C-18 #315. On one of those leases, #315 works as a midtrain helper pushing hard against a heavy freight somewhere on the RGS. The rising sun shines through the short pile trestle, just as #315 crosses over this small creek. It reality, this is not a Rio Grande Southern train. The RGS has been gone for since early 1952. But thanks to the efforts of the Cumbres & Toltec and the Friends of the CATS along with the Durango Railroad Historical Society (owners of 315), the Rio Grande Southern lived again for a week in September 2017. This train with both 455 (really C&TS 463) and D&RGW 315 is climbing out of the San Luis Valley at Hangman's Trestle.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
