The chug of three GE units slowly emerges from the quiet darkness, fading in and out as the train climbs out of Ilmon. Occasional blasts from the horn as the Engineer approaches the grade crossings. The sound envelopes the whole valley as the train rolls through Caliente, silence resumes briefly as the train pierces the hillside through tunnel 1. Then the thunder returns as the train emerges from tunnel 1 and climbs towards tunnel 2. The train enters the scene as it approaches the siding at Bealville, slowly snaking through the darkness of a new moon, flanges squealing in protest to the tight curvature. Two miles later, the train exits the frame and tranquility returns to the valley.
