An eastbound Union Pacific freight rumbles through stark Palisade Canyon and crosses the Humbolt River near west of Palisade, Nevada, on March 7, 2012. Both Southern Pacific and Western Pacific built their main lines through here tracing the Humbolt River. UP now owns them both and uses each directionally, giving it a double-track route through this amazing landscape.
