Montana Limestone Company’s EMD SD50F Nos. 5438 and 5404 are backing away from MRC’s limestone loader with a cut of hoppers at Warren, Montana, on June 24, 2016. These former Canadian National SD50Fs are equipped to operate remotely on its private railroad of two spurs and 18,000 feet of trackage along BNSF’s Casper Subdivision.
Freight Cowls are standard locomotives that have a hood that extends the full width of the locomotive. Sadly, most Freight Cowls have been retired, but a few still run on short lines.
