Remarks & Notes
Truncated Orange Blossom
With only two engines (Chessie System/B&O GP40-2 4296 and Seaboard System/SBD U30C 7238), and fewer than 20 trailers, an unusually short Orange Blossom Special-South is westbound at White Marsh on B&O's Philadelphia Subdivision on January 4, 1987 at 10:44.

More typical would be 4 or 5 (and maybe 6) locomotives, with a cab signal-equipped RF&P unit leading, and well over 100 trailers, which would stretch as far as the eye can see from this vantage point. Contrast with the same symbol/vantage point two days later in photo 610694 and four months later in photo 602186.

SBD U30C 7238 is the former SBD 1544 (née-L&N 1544).
