The race is on! The spreaders spent all morning tidying up the Donner Pass Route. With both main tracks out of service for hours on end, Dispatcher 74 had a back log of trains he needed to run immediately. In this shot, SPMW 4030 slowly works back towards Truckee on the #1 track, while UP 7859 races up the #2 track with a hot ZLTG2 in tow. Two other Z trains were on the tail of this ZLTG2, making for a super fleet heading east. The spreaders would be held in the shed at Norden until these higher priority trains were through the Big Hole. Highball!
