| NS high hood SD40-2 Nº1625, built in September 1973, is one and the first of an 11 unit order from N&W, the following N&W SD40-2 purchases came with standard issue 81" low noses. This small eleven unit group is also the last of the high hood SD40-2 models remaining on Norfolk Southern's roster. Their save and grace has been the addition of remote control gear which is located within the high short hood. |
