Remarks & Notes
We're ready to leave Columbia with a set of coal empties destined for Colstrip,MT.. I believe this train ran all the way on the Milwaukee to Montana. We've probably got 120 empties and a caboose. We'll take the train all the way to St.Paul,MN. where we'll change crews with the boys from Monte or Montvideo,MN..It's just about sunset so its going to be a long night...with any luck we'll follow Amtrak 7 west out of Portage Jct. and chase them all the way I would imagine was the plan. With the coal empties you could really make track speed especially with 4 burners. It looks like we had a couple of MILW U30C's an ex-NP U25C and BN U30C....we'll do just fine. I remember those NP U25C's instead of having a horn valve on the control stand they had a chain that hung down from a roof valve alongside the right window...COOL!

Trains pulled by modern GE locos, from Dash-9s onward. My favorite locos, probably because I worked for GE at Erie, PA.
