NORMAN OK June 3 1979 -- With a wave from the fireman side ATSF GP38 3556, GP39-2 3625 and U23B 6346 handle train 563 eastbound (compass north) as it leaves Norman. I photographed this train earlier on this day when ATSF GP30 3203, on train 593, passed it going in the same direction at the siding in north Norman. The middle number in then-existing practice indicated the train's priority with 1 being the lowest and 9 being the highest.
