NORMAN OK June 4 1978 -- For several years Santa Fe ran a Norman turn from Nowers in Oklahoma City. It spent the night parked between Grey Street and Main Street in downtown Norman and provided a great opportunity to shoot older power. Here, GP9 2908 was on the head end of the day's trip to Norman. It will be the trailing unit on the return trip to Nowers. Weekends could be troublesome for the crew if they arrived in town late. Many times the local watering holes had overflow parking and cars would park dangerously close to the tracks.
