Former Southern Pacific SD9 5399 is parked outside the Albany & Eastern offices in Lebanon, OR. The unit is "lightly" used at present, handling some switching assignments mostly. It did not operate during our visit. It is initialed LLW (Lavacot Locomotive Works), and is technically an SD9E, rebuilt be SP. It was built in February 1955 as SP 5399, re-numbered 4364. Just another reason why SD9s are my all time favorite diesel loco.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
