A 116-car QRVNPP grinds up the western slope of the Donner Pass Route near Emigrant Gap, California. This train made slow progress between Colfax and Switch 9, where it was held for the westbound Amtrak. With an empty grain train close behind and a MRORV waiting at Shed 10, this train was sure slowing up the line. Three locomotives up front and another three in the middle were working hard to get this train back up to speed. A cold storm blew through the night before, blanketing the Bear River Valley with a fresh couple inches of snow.
