| A dismal day for a dismal looking engine. CR 7814 and a repainted mate are switching Pittsburgh & Lake Erie hoppers at the Lake Erie waterfront in Ashtabula on a dreary March day. This facility handled both iron ore and coal, and I am unsure which these care were being switched for. A PLE caboose in behind the units, and I understand PLE gained access to Ashtabula after the Conrail merger in 1976. PLE had been affiliated with New York Central interchanging at Youngstown traditionally. |
