Remarks & Notes
This depot was built by the Duck River Valley Narrow Gauge Railroad at mile post 61.15 in the little town of Belfast, TN. This is one of the few remaining structures of that line, built in the mid to late 1870's. The DRVR was chartered in 1871 to run a railroad between the Tennessee towns of Fayetteville and Johnsonville. They soon fell into financial trouble and the NC&StL first leased the line, and then bought it outright in 1888. The line was converted to standard gauge in 1889, and service continued until 1961 when the final section of the line still in use was abandoned and the rails removed.
