Vermont Railway GP40-2 311, wearing a special scheme to commemorate the railroad's 50th Anniversary in 2014, sits in the late afternoon sun at White River Junction, Vermont, following the town's 2016 - 24th Annual - Glory Days of the Railroad Festival. Because of the "wide nose" Canadian safety cab, railfans have dubbed these engines as model GP40-2(W), although that is not what EMD/GMD called them - but it is handy for differentiating them from a "normal" GP40-2. Built in April 1976 as Canadian National 9662, this engine was later sold to Helm Leasing before being sold to the Vermont Railroad. The engine carries the name "Joan Wulfson," wife of one of Vermont Railway's founders, Jay Wulfson, and the mother of VRS President David Wulfson.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
