A midday NJ Transit Northeast Corridor local bound for New York crosses the Passaic River on track 1 moments after departing Newark Penn Station. The impressive pair of movable bridges at DOCK interlocking were built by the Pennsylvania Railroad between 1935 and 1937. Today they carry a heavy load of daily rail traffic from NJ Transit, Amtrak and PATH. Amtrak's DOCK tower is partially obscured by the far right bridge tower.
