At the eastern end of Canyon Diablo, Arizona, proof that the Santa Fe's Transcon route really does run trains like streetcars. As a westbound, led by SD40-2 5183. approaches the bridge, the headlight of the following westbound, Santa Fe Dash 8-40BW 568, is clearly visible. And, on the other mainline one can see the rear of an eastbound freight. But we don't stay here long on this last day of August 1992, as a passenger special pulled by ATSF 4-8-4 3751 is not far ahead of that eastbound freight, and we must get on the road again if we are to catch it...
