Remarks & Notes
We're stopped at MP 176 Portage is 178 our crew change point. I'm probably Firing for Engineer Frank Bottoni Jr. as I can see Brakeman Freddy Bergles standing along the westbound main. We must be waiting for train 69 to pull into two track in Portage Yard then we'll pull up the westbound and change crews at the depot. We've got a LINES WEST geep on the point of three wagons and probably about 150 cars.....most likely more empties then loads. I always got a kick out of the 300 series GP9's as they had 26air a cash register control stand and they were fun to run. The whistle valve was between the heater and the control stand so if you were really comfortable on your toad stool seat you could put your right foot on the heater and blow the whistles with your left foot. Both the front and rear whistles were connected with one whistle valve. For the 1960's those geeps were really the CAT's MEOW!! or for you younger peeps were our hi-tech geeps!
