It is first light high in the Canadian Rockies. The locomotives on this train are about 15 cars from the highest point on the Canadian National Railway. The train is loading the first of three 50 car sections of coal from Teck's Cardinal River Mine. The train is ascending a grade of about 1.1%, with the empty rear on a grade approaching 3%. The sag that can be seen in the photo is designed to assist the engineer in loading a train on such severe grades.
