On June 30, the Helena Local got a real late start, not arriving at Townsend until sunset. My friend Dave Gayer and I were returning from Lombard thinking we might get lucky and see the train our way back to Helena. Turns out we were right, and the local was cruising slowly in Townsend siding for a meet with a westbound freight. This was to be our parting shot of the last SD45 running on Montana Rail Link. No. 382 trails SD70ACe 4315. The next local would feature an SD40 with the Ace.
