Many changes have been happening at Chicago's Union Station. Much of Amtrak's passenger services have been, or in the process of being, relocated closer to the Great Hall. One obvious change in the Great Hall is the Amtrak information booth right in the center. The booth features Amtrak staff and ticketing computers, which will take the place of the ticket windows currently on the lower level that will be eliminated. A few more ticketing windows will be present in the hallway approaching the Great Hall, and a new Metropolitan Lounge right next to them will be opening soon.
The new information booth is essentially an elaborate tradeshow booth - in order to maintain the station's historic nature and not violate its protected status the booth must not be a "permanent fixture." The entire booth could be broken down and taken away if it were ever required.
