At Lugo, on the eastern side of Cajon Pass' summit, BNSF Railway's triple-track pares down to "just" double-track. However, due to trackwork between Lugo and Victorville, on May 30th, 2016, the railroad was essentially single-track. As a result, an Amtrak special, led by P42DC 156, had to wait for a westbound before it could proceed. The short train is once again on its way now that Union Pacific's IG4MQX 29 has gotten by it.
