Remarks & Notes
A Milwaukee Road manifest heads north through Greendale, WA on its run from Portland to Tacoma. After the BN merger, Milwaukee gained access to Portland and an important connection with Southern Pacific. This gained the railroad traffic, but challenged their infrastructure, as they did not gain trackage rights all the way to Tacoma on BN. Rather, they used their old logging branch lines north of Centralia, and up/down the steep Tacoma hill grade. I'm not sure they made enough revenue to cover the costs of handling this business.
